Although my experiences are anecdotal, I can't help but believe that Renal Essentials helped extend Casper's life after his early onset kidney disease and pancreatitis at 9 years old. He continued on for another 5 years after his prognosis was so grim. All the inflammation fighting components of this product may have helped fight the inflammation that his pancreatitis brought him and for me his additional years. He passed after he turned 14. I have adopted an older rescue cat of 14 years who is healthy and I give him Renal Essentials as a supplement to keep his renal system as healthy as possible for as long as possible.
My cat with chronic renal disease takes these and there's been an improvement in her overall kidney function. While I can't be positive it is from this supplement, I plan to keep using it and her vet approves.
Both of my 18 year old cats are on this -- is it helping? Hard to say -- vet says it can't hurt -- the cats have had early kidney failure for a while, and I think this may be helping them stay healthier longer...It helps me to feel I am helping the old girls! They do not chew it -- but I break the pill in half and pill them.
