DMSO, or dimethyl sulphoxide, provides anti-inflammatory benefits and works as a free radical scavenger. The solvent also helps carry compounds across the skin and mucus membranes, and it may have some antifungal properties. Additionally, DMSO has radioprotective and cryoprotective properties and it functions as a vasodilator, muscle relaxant, and cholinesterase inhibitor.

Use this medication only as directed by your veterinarian.

Consult your veterinarian about how best to apply DMSO liquid and gel. Dosing and application depend on your individual animal, the condition being treated, and other factors.

Do not allow children to handle or apply DMSO.

Directions:

1. Put on thick rubber gloves before using DMSO on your animal.
2. Apply topically every 6 hours.
3. Do not exceed 20 g per day.
4. Discontinue use if your animal experiences skin irritation.
5. Limit use to 14 days unless otherwise instructed by your veterinarian.

Frequency of Use:

The duration of treatment depends on the individual animal and the condition being treated.

Storage:

Store DMSO at room temperature, away from heat and flame. DMSO liquid solvent freezes at 65 degrees F. To thaw for use, place into a warm water bath.

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

DMSO is primarily used as a liniment for horses. It may be used on other animals. It functions as a solvent, carrying other medications and ingredients across the skin barrier. It may help improve symptoms of arthritis and is sometimes used to treat increased intracranial pressure and/or cerebral edema.

Warnings:

Keep this product out of reach of children and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.

DMSO is sold as a solvent only. It is intended for use only as a solvent. Do not use DMSO for any other purpose.

CAUTION: Use extreme caution when mixing with substances or medications. DMSO significantly increases absorption, making overdose and adverse effects more likely.

May cause significant skin irritation.

Avoid contact with clothing, skin, eyes, and mucus membranes. Wash hands well after handling. In case of eye contact, flush eyes with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

Do not use this medication in animals with a known allergy to it or to similar medications.

Do not use DMSO on pregnant or lactating animals.

Check liver and kidney function regularly in animals undergoing treatment with DMSO.

Some dogs may experience a change in the ocular lens leading to altered refractive index and lenticular opacities.
