Eye Drops for Dogs & Cats
Artificial Tears is an eye lubricant and moisturizer for pets designed to soothe discomfort and dryness and protect the eye against inflammation and additional irritation. Artificial Tears for dogs and cats is available as an ointment for use daily use and as an ophthalmic solution for use as needed.
Artificial Tears coats the ocular surface with a
protective barrier to soothe irritation and protect the eye from dryness
and other symptoms associated with dry eyes. The solution and ointment
are beneficial for short and long-term relief of dry eyes and can also
be used to protect the eyes during procedures involving anesthesia.

Use Artificial Tears only on cats and dogs. Do not
use on humans.
Read manufacturer-provided instructions and precautionary
statements prior to use.
Do not allow children to handle or administer drops
or ointment.
Artificial Tears Solution Directions:
- Wash your hands with soap and clean water.
- Tilt your pet's head back so that the affected eye
is facing toward the ceiling.
- Hold the affected eyelid open with one hand, being
careful to keep the top of the bottle far enough away to prevent injury
in the event of sudden movements.
- Instill 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye.
- Continue to hold your pet's head up and encourage
blinking so that the medication is able to coat the entire eye surface.
- Replace the cap. Use care when applying the medication
to ensure the tip does not come into contact with your pet's eye or
any other surface. This helps prevent contamination.
- Wipe away any excess drops with a clean tissue. Do
not touch your pet's eye.
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
Artificial Tears Ointment Directions:
- Wash hands with soap and water before applying ointment.
- Clean the affected eye(s) with a moistened cloth
to remove any discharge or crusting.
- Tilt your pet's head back so that the affected eye
is facing up toward the ceiling.
- Roll down your pet's lower eyelid and apply about
1/4 inch of ointment to the lower lid.
- Hold your pet's eye closed for several minutes to
ensure the medication disperses.
- Replace the cap. Use care when applying the medication
to ensure the tip does not come into contact with your pet's eye or
any other surface. This helps prevent contamination.
- Wipe away any excess ointment with a clean tissue.
Do not touch your pet's eye.
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
Frequency of Use:
The solution is for use up to 4 times daily. The
ointment is for use once or twice daily.
If your pet's symptoms do not improve after a few
days of using Artificial Tears, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian
for advice.
Storage:
Store Artificial Tears in a childproof container,
out of reach of animals and children. Keep away from excessive heat
and direct sunlight.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Artificial Tears works by coating the eye with a
protective film to lubricate and moisturize it. The product effectively
soothes the eyes and prevents additional irritation due to inadequate
or improper tear production, medical conditions, and reduced blinking
during sedation.

allow your pet to ingest this medication.
If increased redness, irritation, inflammation, or
discharge develop while using this product, discontinue use and consult
your veterinarian.
