Dogs & Cats Heartworm Preventative & Flea control Medicine

Advantage Multi works as both a flea control medication and a heartworm preventative for dogs and cats. The imidacloprid in Advantage Multi pet meds kills adult fleas and treats current infestations, while the moxidectin parasiticide kills heartworms and intestinal worms. Advantage Multi is available in 3 and 6 packs month for cats 2-5 lbs. Advantage Multi is available in 6 and 12 month packs for cats 5-9 lbs., cats 9-18 lbs., very small dogs 3-9 lbs., small dogs 9-20 lbs., medium dogs 20-55 lbs., large dogs 55-88 lbs., and extra-large dogs 88-110 lbs.

Advantage Multi provides effective control of heartworms, fleas, and intestinal parasites to ensure continued health of cats and dogs. This product also kills and prevents ear mite infestations in cats.

Benefits of Advantage Multi:

  • Protects against heartworms and associated disease in both cats and dogs
  • Kills adult fleas and helps control flea infestations
  • Effective against ear mite infestations in cats and kittens
  • Controls hookworms and roundworms in cats and dogs
  • Controls whipworms in dogs
  • Once-monthly dosing makes administration easy

Do not apply Advantage Multi to broken or irritated skin. Use only as directed. Do not apply Advantage Multi for Dogs on cats.

Directions for use on dogs and puppies:

The recommended dose of Advantage Multi for dogs and puppies is 4.5 mg/lb imidacloprid and 1.1 mg/lb moxidectin.

  1. Choose the correct dose of Advantage Multi based on your dog's body weight. Treat dogs weighing more than 110 lbs. with a dose determined by your veterinarian.
  2. Hold the applicator tube in an upright position and remove the cap.
  3. Turn the cap upside down and push the cap's other end onto the tip of the tube.
  4. Twist the cap until the seal breaks and then remove the cap from the applicator tube.
  5. With your dog standing, part the hair between the shoulder blades on your dog's back until you can see the skin.
  6. Apply the entire contents of the tube to one spot for dogs weighing 20 lbs. or less. For dogs weighing more than 20 lbs., apply the contents of the tube to 3 or 4 spots in a line from the base of your dog's neck to the upper back.

Separate treated dogs from each other and from other pets for 30 minutes to ensure accidental ingestion via licking of treated areas does not occur. Ingestion by dogs may cause dilated pupils, panting, depression, incoordination, salivation, and muscle tremors. In dogs sensitive to avermectin, coma and death may occur.

Directions for use on cats and kittens:

The recommended dose of Advantage Multi for cats and kittens is 4.5 mg/lb imidacloprid and 0.45 mg/lb moxidectin.

  1. Choose the correct dose of Advantage Multi based on your cat's body weight. Treat cats weighing more than 18 lbs. with a dose determined by your veterinarian.
  2. Remove the cap from the applicator tube while holding it in an upright position.
  3. Rotate the cap and push the other end into the tip of the applicator tube.
  4. Twist the cap to break the safety seal. Remove the cap from the applicator tube.
  5. Part the hair at the base of your cat's head, on the back of your cat's neck. The skin should be visible.
  6. Place the tip of the tube against your cat's skin and apply the entire contents of the tube.
  7. Lift the applicator tube away from your cat's skin before releasing pressure on the tube.

Do not allow your cat or kitten to lick the treated area for at least 30 minutes. Grooming the application site may result in tremors, decreased appetite, hypersalivation, and/or vomiting.

Frequency of Use:

Advantage Multi is to be applied once per month, at the same time each month. Treatment should be year-round or should begin at least one month prior to mosquito season. Treatment should continue until one month after mosquito season.

To control fleas, administer Advantage Multi once per month. Treatment of ear mites is with a single application of Advantage Multi, but monthly treatments will ensure future infestations of ear mites do not occur. Treatment of intestinal parasites is with a single application.

Storage:

Store at room temperature and avoid excessive cold or heat.

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Advantage Multi is a monthly treatment for heartworms, fleas, and intestinal parasites that provides comprehensive protection for dogs and cats. One of the active ingredients in Advantage Multi, imidacloprid, is a chloronicotinyl nitroguanidine insecticide. The other active ingredient, moxidectin, is a parasiticide. Advantage Multi works by interfering with nerve transmission in intestinal worms and heartworms, thereby causing paralysis and death. The product kills fleas by acting on the nervous system of the insects.

Advantage Multi is available by prescription only.
