Capstar is an oral, over-the-counter
medication for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens that kills adult fleas.
It begins working within half an hour, killing at least 90 percent of
all fleas on dogs within 4 hours and at least 90 percent of all fleas
on cats within 6 hours.

Capstar is not a preventative medication.
It is used to kill adult fleas currently infesting your pet. Other fleas
in the area must be eliminated as well to prevent reinfestation.
For Use In: Dogs, puppies,
cats, and kittens that are at least 4 weeks old and that weigh at least
2 lbs. Not for human use. Not for other animals.
Keep out of reach of children. Do not
allow children to administer Capstar. Read directions and precautionary
statements before use.
Use of Capstar in conjunction with
Program Tablets is recommended.
Directions:
- Remove only the current
dose of Capstar from its container. Return the remaining product to
its safe storage location.
- Give cats and dogs up to
25 lbs. one 11.4 mg oral tablet.
- Give dogs weighing more
than 25 lbs. one 57 mg oral tablet.
- Talk to your veterinarian
about an appropriate combination of Capstar oral tablets for dogs weighing
more than 125 lbs.
- Place the tablet into your
pet's mouth or hide it in food.
- Watch your pet consume the
tablet to be certain the dose is taken.
Frequency of Use:
One daily tablet kills adult fleas
for 24 hours. Capstar is safe to readminister once a day. Talk to your
veterinarian about repeat dosing. Give your dog or cat a dose of Capstar
after possible exposure to fleas, such as at a dog park, grooming or
boarding facility, or show.
Storage:
Store in original container and out
of reach of children and animals.
Store Capstar between 59 and 77 degrees
F.
It is a violation of Federal Law
to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Capstar contains the insecticide nitenpyram.
It disrupts nerve transmissions in fleas, while leaving your pet unaffected.
Nitenpyram begins working within 30 minutes and wipes out almost all
adult fleas in 6 hours or less. It continues killing adult fleas for
24 hours.
This product is available over the
counter.

CAUTION: While Capstar
is not known to cause interactions with supplements or drugs, talk to
your veterinarian before putting your pet on any regimen.
Capstar is not associated with side
effects. Pets typically scratch after administration of Capstar; however,
this is a result of the fleas dying off, not a reaction to the medication.
Capstar is safe for use in pregnant
and nursing cats and dogs.
If you suspect or know of an overdose,
consult your veterinarian immediately.
In the event of human consumption,
contact your doctor or poison control right away. Have the product label
on hand.
Safety concerns change with concurrent
use of Capstar and Program Flavor Tabs. Consult your veterinarian.
