Joint Health Pet Medications
Polyglycan is an injectable pet medication that contains glucosamine, chondroitin, and hyaluronic acid. The components in Polyglycan are essential to protecting joints, cartilage, and synovial fluid.
Polyglycan is a final-stage surgical lavage administered
at the end of joint surgery in horses. It supplies glucosamine, hyaluronic
acid, and chondroitin to replace synovial fluid lost during the procedure
and to promote continuing joint health and function. In addition, although
it is not approved for such use by the FDA, many veterinarians prescribe
Polyglycan injections for the treatment of arthritis.
Benefits of Polyglycan:
- Surgical lavage for use at the conclusion of joint
surgery
- Delivers glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin
- Replaces lost synovial fluid
- Helps maintain the homeostatic environment of the
joint
- Supports joint recovery, comfort, and function after
the procedure
- Patented, effective formulation
- Frequently used off-label as an arthritis treatment
to help prevent and repair joint degeneration, decrease pain, and increase
mobility
Read all label instructions and precautionary statements
before use.
Polyglycan is only labeled for use by veterinary
surgeons as a postoperative lavage. It is available by prescription
for off-label use to treat arthritis. In these instances, use Polyglycan
exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian.
Directions:
- Inject Polyglycan intra-articularly as the final
joint lavage before closing the joint space.
- Dosage varies and is determined by the veterinary
surgeon.
- Off-label dosage and usage varies; follow the specifications
of your veterinarian's prescription.
Frequency of Use:
Polyglycan is used once as a final surgical joint
lavage. Frequency of off-label administration varies depending on the
animal, the severity of the condition, and other factors. Use as prescribed.
Storage:
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Store Polyglycan in a cool, dry location. Protect
from freezing.
Discard unused portion in vials.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Polyglycan contains hyaluronic acid, glucosamine,
and chondroitin. These compounds are essential to synovial fluid, cartilage,
and overall joint health and function. This injection is made at the
conclusion of joint surgery to replace lubricating synovial fluid lost
during the procedure and to help in the joint's recovery. These ingredients
also help thicken synovial fluid, protect and rebuild cartilage, and
otherwise improve joint function in animals with degenerative joint
conditions.
