Zimecterin is a broad-spectrum wormer and parasiticide.
With one dose, it removes adult large strongyles, adult and fourth-stage
larvae small strongyles, adult and fourth-stage larvae pinworms, adult
and third- and fourth-stage larvae roundworms, adult hairworms, adult
large-mouth stomach worms, adult and fourth-stage larvae lungworms,
adult intestinal threadworms, oral- and gastric-stage bots, Summer sores
caused by Habronema and Draschia spp cutaneous third-stage larvae,
and dermatitis resulting from neck threadworm microfilariae. This product
is also available as Zimecterin Gold for the additional treatment of
tapeworms.
Zimecterin Gold is for horses at least 2 months of
age. Use in younger animals may be harmful to health. Do not use in dogs or other animals.
Doing so may cause death.
Read all manufacturer-provided directions and warnings
prior to administration.
Use as recommended by your veterinarian.
Directions:
- Give 91 mcg ivermectin per pound of body weight (and
454 mcg praziquantel per pound of body weight with Zimecterin Gold).
The contents of one syringe is the appropriate dose for a 1,250 lb.
horse. Each weight denomination on the included syringe doses a 250-lb.
body weight increment.
- Turn the plunger's knurled ring to the right, positioning the nearest
side of the barrel at the correct dosage as determined by the animal's body weight.
- Ensure the horse's mouth does not contain any feed.
- Remove the cover from the tip of the syringe.
- Insert the syringe between the teeth so that its
tip is over the back of the tongue.
- Depress the plunger all the way to administer the
pre-set dose.
- Elevate the horse's head slightly for a few seconds.
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
Frequency of Use:
Zimecterin works with one dose. Your veterinarian
should advise you about an appropriate treatment schedule based on your
location, individual risk factors, and other considerations. Treat foals
initially at 6 to 8 weeks old, and then begin the veterinarian-recommended
treatment regimen.
Storage:
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Store Zimecterin products at controlled room temperature.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Warnings:
Keep Zimecterin and Zimecterin Gold out of reach
of children and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or
heat.
Zimecterin products are only for horses. Zimecterin
Gold is not for horses younger than 2 months of age. Do not use in other
animals. Zimecterin may cause severe adverse effects in other species,
including death in dogs. Not for human use.
Follow your veterinarian's recommendations for
safe and effective use of this product.
CAUTION: Do not administer to horses
intended for consumption.
The safety of Zimecterin Gold in pregnant, lactating,
and breeding horses has not been established.
Wash hands with water and soap after administering
Zimecterin.
Zimecterin products may irritate the eyes.
Talk to your veterinarian about any side effects
you notice.
Zimecterin Gold has in rare instances caused temporary
swelling and irritation of the mouth, lips, or tongue.
When used in horses with severe neck threadworm microfilariae
infections, Zimecterin can result in itching and swelling. This is likely
due to the death of large numbers of the parasite at one time. Seek
treatment of symptoms from your veterinarian.
Other simultaneous treatment may be necessary for
Summer sores with extensive tissue changes.
Talk to your veterinarian about how to effectively
prevent subsequent infections.
Zimecterin may harm water-dwelling organisms. Do
not contaminate ground or surface water. Dispose of syringe in an approved
landfill or by incineration.
