What Is DHA and EPA?
DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and EPA (Eicosapentaenoic
Acid) are naturally occurring Omega-3 fatty acids essential in the brain and
central nervous system of young mammals.
Why do puppies need DHA and EPA?
DHA and EPA are building blocks of the brain and are
critical elements in the development of vision and the central nervous system.
The primary source of DHA and EPA is milk from the puppy's mother. Renurse keeps
supplying these brain-building elements long after weaning.
Where do DHA and EPA come from?
Like humans, the primary source of brain-developing DHA
and EPA is from mother's milk. It is also available in foods such as eggs, organ
meat and certain fish. Renurse gets its natural DHA and EPA from easy-to-digest
What are essential fatty acids?
Essential fatty acids cannot be produced by the body and
must be supplied through diet. The two key fatty acids found in Renurse are DHA
When separated from their mother, use Renurse to insure their level of DHA
and EPA are not compromised.
Dosage and Administration
It is extremely important to weigh puppies every day to ensure they are
receiving adequate amounts of supplement. If a puppy loses weight after 48
hours, consult your veterinarian.
Renurse may be fed at the daily rate of at least two (2) tablespoons per four
(4) ounces (1/4 lb). The daily feeding rate should be divided into equal
portions for each feeding.
Puppies' needs will vary and this amount may have to be increased or decreased,
depending on the individual. Larger puppies can be fed every 8 hours.
Small or weak puppies may need to be fed every 3-4 hours.
Puppies should be allowed to consume as much formula as they want.
Orphaned Puppies: If possible, puppies should nurse from their mother for
the first two days of their lives to receive nutrient rich colostrum. Mother's
colostrum provides protection from numerous diseases and contains growth factors
believed to stimulate protein synthesis, fat utilization, and cell growth.
Feed at a temperature that feels slightly warm on your wrist.
