Use Regu-Mate only as directed by your veterinarian.
Always wear protective gloves when administering
or working with Regu-Mate.
Women of childbearing age must use extreme caution
when handling or administering this medication.
Directions:
- Remove cap and seal and replace with plastic dispensing
cup.
- Remove cover from dispensing tip and connect the
luer lock syringe.
- Draw out the appropriate amount of Regu-Mate and
then detach the syringe. Do not remove the syringe while the bottle
is still inverted; doing so may result in spillage of the product.
- Give 1 mL per 110 lbs. of body weight once each day
for 15 days.
- Give by mouth or top-dress your mare's feed.
- Replace cover on the dispensing tip before storing.
Frequency of Use:
Give for 15 consecutive days, once per day.
Storage:
Store Regu-Mate in a tightly fitting, light-resistant
container at controlled room temperature. Use 150 mL bottle within 14
days of opening; use the 250, 300, and 1000 mL bottles within 28 days
of opening. Keep away from pets and children.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Regu-Mate works by increasing levels of progesterone.
When levels increase, the body halts estrus. Regu-Mate typically works
within 3 days of beginning treatment and most mares return to estrus
within 5 days of treatment.
Active Ingredient (per mL): altrenogest 2.2 mg
Warnings:
Keep this product out of reach of children and animals.
Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Regu-Mate is intended for use in mares only. Not
for use in male horses. Not for use in any other animal or by humans.
CAUTION: Do not use Regu-Mate in horses
with endometriosis or other inflammation of the uterus. Do not give
to horses that are or could be pregnant.
Tell your veterinarian about any other medications
or supplements your mare is taking before beginning therapy with Regu-Mate.
Humans who are pregnant or might be pregnant or who
have liver disease, clotting disorders, breast cancer or other cancers,
or a history of stroke should not handle or administer Regu-Mate. Also,
do not come into contact with this medication if you have undiagnosed
vaginal bleeding, cerebrovascular disease, coronary artery disease,
or tumors that developing during treatment with oral contraceptives.
Avoid skin contact with this medication. Use rubber
gloves when handling and wash hands with soap and water after touching
this product or its container.
Do not use Regu-Mate in mares with a treated or existing
uterine infection.
Do not give to male horses.
Side effects of use include changes in blood potassium
and calcium levels and altered liver enzymes.
Regu-Mate may interact with rifampin.
Do not use Regu-Mate in animals with a known allergy
to it or to similar products.
