Arthritis Pain & Inflammation Pet Meds for Horses

DMSO or dimethyl sulfoxide is a non-medical grade version of DMSO that is available over the counter. DMSO Gel and Liquid are used primarily to treat pain and swelling caused by injury or arthritis in horses. DMSO pet meds are known to act as a solvent to help other medications cross the skin barrier and mucus membranes.

DMSO, or dimethyl sulphoxide, provides anti-inflammatory benefits and works as a free radical scavenger. The solvent also helps carry compounds across the skin and mucus membranes, and it may have some antifungal properties. Additionally, DMSO has radioprotective and cryoprotective properties and it functions as a vasodilator, muscle relaxant, and cholinesterase inhibitor.

Benefits of DMSO:

  • DMSO Gel 90% is non-pyrogenic and acetone free
  • Very  low toxicity when used properly
  • Penetrates the skin rapidly and in amounts sufficient to aid healing
  • Traps free radicals and produces sulfur to speed healing
  • Rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the body
  • May help interstitial cystitis

  5. Limit use to 14 days unless otherwise instructed by your veterinarian.
