Our 13 year old terrier mutt has chronic knee pain. Although I don't think the Tramadol makes him "pain-free," if he misses a dose we notice the difference. He's a happier dog taking it. We are now dosing him twice a day, with meals. VetDepot has consistently offered the best price although it creeps up each time we make a purchase.
This med was prescribed by our dogs vet for joint pain and does a great job. The price at Vet Depot is very good compared to other suppliers. The only problem is that due to our dog's size (only 30 lbs), our vet suggested we give her 1/2 a tablet. Since these tablets are round, they do not split evenly. Otherwise, everything is fine.
I have a 200lb St. Bernard who was prescribed Tramadol for DJD in the hip joints as well as a possible slipped disk in his back. A slight improvement has been noted in his ability to stand but we continue to explore our options for improving his quality of life. Vet depot did offer a significantly lower price as well as prompt service and updates.
My 11 year old German shepherd has a tumor in his mouth. We have been doing radiation treatment on him, and the vet prescribed tramadol for pain management. The drug if fine as a pain drug, but the side effects are noticeable. He becomes very groggy and confused. The original dosage was 2 pills in morning and 2 at night. That was too much for him to handle, so now he gets 1 pill at night.
I give Tramadol to my dog in the morning and night and it seems to help.
I've started giving her one before the afternoon walk as well, per the recommendation of the vet. I do wonder if Tramadol is addictive and what would happen if I stopped giving them to her.

Great product and great price
Price was great and shipping was very quick. Just what I needed and VetDepot kept me informed as to the status of the order.
I have a 10 year old Pug with severe arthritis- since she started taking Tramadol she hardly limps anymore, she runs more and has better mobility in general. She even has a big smile on her her face these days since she's pain free! How can you not love a product that does that for the love of your life!
Finally the vet listened and prescribed Tramadol, pain relief is so important for an elderly puppy.
Really helps with the pain
This stuff is great. Unfortunately we found it at Costco for $5.99 per 100. We will still get our Novox here and the Tramadol at Costco.
I have been doing my research on various pain relievers for our bulldog. She was misdiagnosed with hip displasea, but likely has lumbosacral disease. We give her Tramadol, and it works very well --
However, given that the pain stems from inflamed and irritated nerves, it seems to me that we should also be giving her an anti-inflammatory. The product info from the product info sheet (the pdf) on this website states:
Tramadol is a pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain in dogs and cats. Tramadol can also be used IN COMBINATION with non-steroidal ANTI-INFLAMMATORY drugs in dogs. This analgesic is used for severe post-surgical pain and for chronic pain like cancer or degenerative osteoarthritis. It can also be used as a cough suppressant. Tramadol works by decreasing the brain's perception and response to pain by inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin. This centrally acting analgesic is not related to opioids.
So, anyone have any suggestions for an anti-inflammatory? I'll be asking my vet, of course, but good info can come from many sources. Thanks in advance.

Relief for my dog's arthritic pains
Tramadol HCL has proven to be a great asset in the management of my 14 yr. old pit bull's chronic joint pains. It has revitalized her ability to get around. Our 11 year old German Shepherd suffers from hip problems and could barely walk or stand up. Our vet prescribed Tramadol along with Deramaxx, and within 24 hours she was up and moving around like she didn't even have these problems. She seemed virtually pain free!

12 year old Lab no longer whimpering
Over a year ago I noticed my 12 year old lab, Sammy would whimper when he was lying down or getting up. He was licking his forearms and his rear elbows to the point of causing rust spots. He had been on Rimadyl for over a year by then, but it he needed something more. I brought him to the vet, who prescribed Tramadol twice a day. His discomfort seemed to disappear. He loves to run in the woods when we go hiking and looks forward to his daily 2 mile walks.

My 13 1/2 year old Samoyed has severe arthritis & has been on novox for a while. His vet recently started him on 100 mg of tramadol every 8 hours. It has made a huge difference in his mobility & has decreased his pain considerably. Sadly, I know he isn't going to get better, but this will at least keep him comfortable for his remaining days. When I ordered it, I had it within a few days - very good service.
Great Product at a Great Price!
I've been using this product, 50 mg twice a day, combined with Carprofen, 75 mg twice a day, for over a year now. It has made all the difference in allowing my 90+ pound, 10 year old American Bulldog mix with a bad knee to be able to get up and down stairs, and still be able to jump on my bed! With VetDepot, I'm paying half as much for the same product as I was with my Vet! Glad I found VetDepot!
12 year old Yellow lab much more comfortable
Sammy our 12 year old Labrador retriever started obsessively licking the elbows of his back legs, so much so, that he developed rust stains. All that changed when our vet put him on 50 mg of Tramadol, twice a day. Sammy can keep up with our 1 year old lab puppy and he is a happy dog once again. He has been on it for 18 months now, and thank goodness I discovered Vet depot. They had the best prices by far. Fosters and smith was much more expensive on every mediction than Vet Depot and on one, they charged a higher price per pill than my Vet. I would NEVER use that company again!
Giving this medicine twice a day is no problem. We keep a day of the week pill holder for Sam, and he waits in the kitchen until I give them to him.
Tramadol has been great in treating our 90+ pit/mastiff mix for his arthritis. One pill every other day of each Carprofen and Tramadol seems to help manage his pain. And I couldn't believe the savings for the same script he got at the vet!

Purchased this drug to relieve pain in the hips of my pet. He is six years old and starting to have problems with his hips, and this drug seems to have made significant improvement. I'm using it in conjunction with Deramaxx, and he is moving much better. The price and speedy service is a great selling point!

My senior dog has arthritis and elbow displasia, he takes 6 pills a day and it can get expensive. This was the best deal I found. It shipped quick and is the same medication that I bought at the vet.
My dog is using this for her hips. There's a precaution to not use it in dogs w/ a history of seizures. Shortly after, my dog had a seizure. Decreased dosage and monitoring. Before Tramadol, pain level was off the chart. Tramadol helped a little but not enough to avoid surgery. Main reason for recommending is price and based on other reviews seemed to have worked for them, unfortunately not for my dog.

Tramadol made the difference
My Siberian Husky is coming up on 9 years old with muscle atrophy in her hind legs. The Tramadol made a dramatic difference in her pain level with no side effect seen.
