Since our vet switched molly to Meloxicam she is much more active and able to walk, swim and play longer. A marked difference of apparent relief from our previous NSAID.

My dog has arthritis, and Metacam is excellent for making her act like a puppy again. She's used it off and on for several years. When she has an achy day and won't use the stairs, I give her a dose and she is up and moving within an hour or two. She'll even jump up on the bed like she used to! This is an expensive medication, but it works really well. And the price here is much better than through the veterinarian.

I recommend this to all my pet sitting clients especially for older dogs. Just like people's Ibuprophen, it can upset the stomach. Try to keep the dose as low as possible and still give relief to your dog. ie My dog weighs 56 pounds and I found he responds well to a dose at 40. If your dog is still in pain, My Vet recommends Metacam along with Tramadol. If I see my dog limping because we went for an extra long walk or he slept wrong and is achy (he is 11 years old). I will give him a little dose at night and next morning he is fine and raring to go. Just like us old folks who get a good nights sleep.

This has been an excellent quality product for our elderly German Shepherd. She has chronic arthritis in hips, hocks, ankles and shoulders. This product has given her a tremendous amount of relief from the inflammation and has even made her feel well enough to try to play with our little dogs. She will even attempt our back porch stairs which she hasn't done in several years. I highly recommend this product to anyone with a pet with the same disease.
