Our German Shepherd was diagnosed with Endocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) at 9 months on the verge of starvation, and has required pancreatic supplement in every meal ever since. All of a sudden we were faced with a lifetime bill of $20,000 to keep her alive if we bought from the vet. A little research found Vet Depot and PancreaPowder Plus which has worked perfectly at about half the price of the vet.



The one star deduction is because this powder is rather fine and blows around the air easily. If you breathe some of it it will start digesting your throat or nasal cavity which in my case causes either long sneezing fits or coughing depending on where it ended up. Just be careful, get it moist right away when mixing with food, and hold your breath. The expensive vet version doesn't blow around as it is not as fine a powder.



Our dog is now almost 6 and very healthy and active.

My powderpuff Chinese Crested was diagnosed with EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency) after several bouts of painful, bloody diarrhea. He was losing weight and looking miserable. I found a similar product priced even lower at another website, but the company doesn't even require a prescription. It's not the brand my vet recommended, and I would worry about the quality. With VetDepot, I can get the brand my vet trusts, at a MUCH better price, and I don't have to raid my retirement fund to pay for it!

After finally being correctly diagnosed with Pancreas Insufficiency a year ago, I picked up a 12oz bottle of pancreas powder for my German Shepherd at our vet's office every two weeks. She was the only dog that went to our vet that had it, so they had to specially order to have it in stock just for her. I found it online here at VetDepot where they use PayPal. It was very easy and took two days to get a prescription from my vet, then mailed two days later.

Since I have to order it every two weeks for the rest of her life, I would rather get a prescription that covered a full year, 23 refills. If there is a pancreas powder out there that doesn't make her face stink and just as effective, I would like to know what it is. So far, I'm happy with Butler. It's better than Viokase, less stinky.

Sunny-lou is a 14 year old LabxAussie Shephard. She has had many medical challenges throughout her life, such as epilepsy, thyroid issues, mega-esophagus and pancreatitis. She has rebounded from each condition slower than before and was slowly wasting last year.
