Generic Anipryl MAOI for Dogs
Selegiline HCL is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor used
to treat Cushing's disease and canine senility. It is very effective
when used as prescribed and is the only FDA-approved drug for the treatment
of canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome. When used to treat cognitive
dysfunction, Selegiline HCL pet meds are most effective when used along with a
behavior modification plan.
Selegiline HCL helps dogs with Cushing's disease
by reducing symptoms such as polydipsia, polyuria, hair loss, thinning
skin, overeating, itching, lethargy, depression, aggression, ataxia,
and vomiting.
In cases of canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome,
or CDS, Selegiline HCL restores and improves relationships with humans
and with other dogs, minimizes disorientation, improves activity and
sleep, and helps prevent inappropriate urination and defecation, thereby
significantly improving quality of life.

Use this medication only as directed by your veterinarian.
Do not allow any child to give this medication.
Before using this medication, tell your veterinarian
about any other drugs or supplements your pet is currently taking.
Directions:
- Give 0.20 to 0.45 mg per pound of body weight to
dogs with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction.
- Give 0.45 mg per pound of body weight to dogs with
Cushing's disease.
- Administer the medication in one daily dose, preferably
in the morning.
- Increase the dose after 2 months if no improvement
is noted and your veterinarian instructs you to do so.
Frequency of Use:
The duration of treatment depends on the type of
condition being treated. Do not stop giving Selegiline HCL early, even
if symptoms improve or disappear during treatment.
Do not give a double dose of this medication.
Storage:
Store Selegiline HCL at room temperature, in a childproof
container, away from light. Keep away from children and pets.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

by increasing levels of dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter
that improves many cognitive processes. Selegiline HCL is primarily
used to treat canine senility, also called canine cognitive dysfunction
syndrome. It may also be used to treat Cushing's disease.

Keep this product out of reach of children and animals.
Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Selegiline HCL is intended for use in dogs only.
Not for other animals. Not for humans.
CAUTION: Selegiline HCL is an MAOI and
should therefore not be used in conjunction with other antidepressants,
especially fluoxetine and meperidine. This medication has many contraindications
and interactions and should only be used under supervision by a veterinarian.
Side effects associated with Selegiline HCL include
diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and restlessness. Some pets may also experience
dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, insomnia, anxiety, or agitation
while taking this medication.
Do not give this medication to pregnant or nursing
animals.
Do not use this medication in animals with a known
allergy to it or to similar medications.
