Fenbendazole Deowmer for Dogs and Horses

Panacur C is a dewormer for dogs that treats and removes tapeworm, roundworm, hookworm, and whipworm infestations. Panacur EQ pet meds are indicated for removing strongyles, cyathostome larvae, pinworms, and other parasites from horses. Both Panacur C and Panacur EQ contain fenbendazole.

Panacur Canine products are intended for the removal of intestinal parasites, including hookworms, tapeworms, roundworms, and whipworms. Panacur is also used to treat Giardia.

Panacur EQ Dewormer contains fenbendazole for the control of large strongyles, small strongyles, cyathostome larvae, roundworms, pinworms, and arteritis resulting from strongylus vulgaris larvae infection in horses. Panacur Horse and Cattle Dewormer controls large strongyles, small strongyles, and pinworms.

Benefits of Panacur for Horses and Cattle:

  • Dewormer solution can be administered via stomach tube
  • Controls a variety of parasites to improve health

Panacur C Canine Directions:

  1. Weigh your dog soon before treatment to calculate an accurate dosage amount.
  2. Add granules to the top of food or mix with a small portion of food prior to the main meal. You may need to dampen dry dog food to facilitate mixing.
  3. Give a 1 gm packet to dogs weighing 0-10 lbs.
  4. Give a 2 gm packet to dogs weighing 11-20 lbs.
  5. Give a 1 gm packet and a 2 gm packet to dogs weighing 21-30 lbs.
  6. Give a 4 gm packet to dogs weighing 31-40 lbs.
  7. Give a 1 gm packet and a 4 gm packet to dogs weighing 41-50 lbs.
  8. Give a 2 gm packet and a 4 gm packet to dogs weighing 51-60 lbs.
  9. Give two 4 gm packets to dogs weighing 61-80 lbs.
  10. Obtain the proper dosage amount for dogs weighing more than 80 lbs. from your veterinarian.
  11. Monitor your animal to ensure the entire dose of Panacur is consumed.
  12. Continue treatment for 3 consecutive days.

Accuracy in dosing is essential to effectively treat for parasites.

Give 22.7 mg per pound of body weight for 3 consecutive days.

Frequency of Use:

Panacur must be taken in full and used for 3 consecutive days to eliminate parasites.

Typically, newly weaned puppies should take Panacur at 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks of age. Deworm dogs over 6 months of age at least twice each year.

Storage:

Store at controlled room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F. Keep out of reach of children and pets. 

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

EQ Dewormer Paste Directions:

  1. Weigh your horse to determine its exact weight.
  2. Remove the syringe tip, and then turn the dial ring until the edge closest to the tip lines up with the zero mark.
  3. Depress the plunger to move the 10% paste to the tip.
  4. Move the dial ring to the mark closest to the weight of your horse.
  5. Clear your horse's mouth of food and other items.
  6. Insert the syringe nozzle through the interdental space.
  7. Depress the plunger and deposit the paste onto the back of your horse's tongue.

Horse and Cattle Suspension Directions:

  1. Estimate body weight to determine the proper dose.
  2. Administer to horses and cattle orally using the dosing syringe.
  3. Insert the syringe's nozzle through the interdental space.
  4. Depress the plunger to deposit the drug onto the back of the animal's tongue.
  5. Alternatively, the dewormer suspension can be administered via stomach tube.

Panacur may be used concomitantly with trichlorfon, a medication approved to treat stomach bots in horses.

Consult your veterinarian for dosing information specific to your animal.

Frequency of Use:

Repeat deworming procedure every 6 to 8 weeks to prevent reinfection. The recommended deworming schedule is: December 1, February 1, April 1, June 1, August 1, October 1.

Storage:

Store in the original packaging, at or below 77 degrees F.

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Panacur C (Fenbendazole)

Panacur Canine Granules are available in four sizes: 3 packets of 1 gm each, 3 packets of 2 gm each, 3 packets of 4 gm each, and 1 lb containers.

Active Ingredient: Fenbendazole 222 mg/g

Warnings:

Keep this product out of reach of children and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.

Panacur Granules are for use in dogs only. Do not give to cats or other animals. Do not use in humans.

Panacur is believed to be safe for pregnant animals.

CAUTION: Some animals may develop diarrhea, vomiting, or loss appetite during treatment with Panacur Granules.

It is not know if Panacur interacts with any other medications or supplements. Consult your veterinarian before giving Panacur to animals taking other medications.

Panacur only kills some types of tapeworms. If you see tapeworms in your dog's stool following treatment with Panacur C, consult your veterinarian.

Because humans can contract hookworms, roundworms, and tapeworms from animals, it is essential to practice good hygiene when caring for your pet.

Panacur for Cattle

Panacur EQ Dewormer Paste contains fenbendazole, an anthelmintic. This ingredient inhibits energy metabolism in parasites. Panacur EQ Dewormer 10% Paste is available over the counter.

Warnings:

Keep this product out of reach of children and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.

Panacur EQ Dewormer and Panacur Horse & Cattle Dewormer Suspension are intended for use in horses and cattle only. Do not use in other animals. Do not give to humans.

CAUTION: Do not use Panacur EQ in horses intended to be used for food.

Do not slaughter cattle for human consumption within 8 days following treatment with Panacur Horse and Cattle Dewormer Suspension.

Do not use in calves intended to be processed for veal.

Do not use the dewormer suspension in dairy cattle at 10 mg/kg, as doing so could cause violative residues in milk. This dose rate is for beef cattle only.

There is no established withdrawal period for pre-ruminating calves.

There are no known contraindications for Panacur EQ Paste.

Side effects from the 10% paste may include hypersensitivity reactions associated with antigen release by the dying parasites. No other adverse effects have been reported.
