Ivermectin Livestock Dewormer Medication

Ivermectin 1% is an injectable broad-spectrum parasiticide primarily used in cattle and swine. This product is effective against an array of internal and external parasites that commonly infest these animals. Ivermectin 1% eliminates GI roundworms, including inhibited Ostertagia ostertagi in cattle, as well as lungworms, lice, and cattle and swine mange mites. It also works against grubs in cattle. This medication is also approved to treat and control warbles in reindeer and grubs in American bison. Ivermectin is also sometimes administered off-label, either orally, topically, or by injection, to dogs for heartworm prevention or to dogs and cats for treatment of ear and skin mites.

Ivermectin 1% is for use in cattle, swine, American bison, and reindeer. It is sometimes used off-label in dogs and cats. Do not give to other animals. Do not use in dogs or cats without your veterinarian recommendation, and use only according to provided instructions. Not for human use.

Do not permit children to handle or administer this medication.

Review all manufacturer instructions and precautionary statements before use. Use as directed by your veterinarian.

For use in American bison and reindeer, follow the same directions provided below for cattle.

Directions for Ivermectin 1% Use in Cattle:

1. Appropriately restrain cattle for injection.
2. Sterilize the needle and rubber stopper and the site of injection with a topical disinfectant.
3. Opt for a 16-gauge 1/2 to 3/4" needle. Use a single-dose syringe or standard automatic syringe equipment if you have the 50 mL Ivermectin 1% package. Use only automatic syringe equipment for larger packages.
4. Administer Ivermectin injections subcutaneously into the loose skin behind or in front of the shoulder.
5. Give 1 mL per 110 lbs. of body weight, not to exceed 10 mL in one injection site. This provides the properly formulated dosage of 200 mcg ivermectin per 2.2 lbs. of body weight. For doses over 10 mL, divide administration between two injection sites.

Directions for Ivermectin 1% Use in Swine:

1. Appropriately restrain swine for injection.
2. Sterilize the needle and rubber stopper and the site of injection with a topical disinfectant.
3. Opt for a 16- or 18-gauge needle for use in sows and boars; opt for an 18- or 20-gauge needle for younger animals. Use a single-dose syringe or standard automatic syringe equipment if you have the 50 mL Ivermectin 1% package. Use only automatic syringe equipment for larger packages.
4. Administer Ivermectin injections subcutaneously into the neck behind the ear.
5. Give 1 mL per 75 lbs. of body weight. This provides the properly formulated dosage of 300 mcg ivermectin per 2.2 lbs. of body weight.
6. Treat breeding swine 7-14 days before farrowing.
7. Treat weaner/feeder pigs prior to placement into clean quarters.

Use exactly as directed by your veterinarian.

Storage:

Keep out of reach of children and animals.

Store between 59-86 degrees F, protected from light.

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

The broad-spectrum antiparasitic agent ivermectin disrupts nerve impulses in parasites, causing paralysis or death. Lungworms, lice, roundworms (even the Ostertagia ostertagi in cattle), mange mites, reindeer warbles, and cattle and American bison grubs are all susceptible to the effects of Ivermectin 1%. Use this product in cattle and swine for serious control over external and internal parasites.

Ivermectin 1% is available without a veterinary prescription.

Ivermectin 1% (ivermectin)

Ivermectin 1% injectable solution is clear, sterile, and ready for use.

Ivermectin 1% Ingredients: 1% ivermectin, 40% glycerol formal, 1.5% benzyl alcohol (preservative), and propylene glycol, q.s. ad 100%

Warnings:

Keep this product out of reach of children and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.

Ivermectin 1% is FDA-approved for use in beef and dairy cattle, swine, American bison, and reindeer. It is sometimes used off-label in dogs. Do not use in other animals or humans.

Do not use in dogs without specific recommendation from your veterinarian. Be aware that use may be via injection or oral or topical administration.

This product has been associated with severe side effects in species for which it is not FDA-approved, including death in dogs.

Do not treat beef cattle within 35 days of slaughter. Do not use in female dairy cattle of breeding age, as the withdrawal time in milk has not been determined. Do not treat swine within 18 days of slaughter. Do not treat reindeer or American bison within 56 days of slaughter.

Use only as directed by your veterinarian.

Louse eggs are not affected by treatment with Ivermectin 1%, and can take up to 3 weeks to hatch.

For the most effective control of grubs, administer this product as soon as possible after the heel fly (warble fly) season ends.

Do not administer more than 10 mL Ivermectin 1% in the same injection site. Divide larger doses between two sites.

CAUTION: For subcutaneous injection only. Do not inject this medication intravenously or intramuscularly.

Use only sterile equipment on properly sanitized injection sites to prevent infections.

Some temporary discomfort or soft-tissue swelling may occur at the site of injection. Monitor the site for reactions, and discuss any you see with your veterinarian. Contact your veterinarian about any suspected adverse reactions to use of this medication.

Talk to your veterinarian first before using this product concurrently with any other drug or supplement.

Do not contaminate water or soil with Ivermectin 1%. Dispose of in an approved landfill or by incineration.
