The following directions represent a standard use,
but dosage varies. Use this medication only as prescribed by your veterinarian.
Clinical signs may clear up and your pet may appear
better before an infection is completely eliminated. Do not stop administration
before you are instructed to do so by your veterinarian.
- Give Fluconazole with food.
- Give cats 1/2 tablet (50 mg) every 12 or 24 hours.
- Give dogs 10 to 12 mg per 2.2 lbs. of body weight
every 24 hours.
- Give horses 5 mg per 2.2 lbs. of body weight every
- Provide plenty of fresh water to treated animals.
Frequency of Use:
Fluconazole is usually given once per day, although
it is sometimes given twice daily to cats. It often takes 1 to 2 weeks
for benefits to become apparent. Some fungal infections are difficult
to treat, and treatment may last weeks to months.
Give a forgotten dose as soon as you remember it,
unless it is nearly time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose
of this medication.
Store Fluconazole at room temperature.
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
The antifungal agent fluconazole alters the membrane
surrounding fungus in a manner that leads to its death. It works on
a variety of internal and external fungal and yeast infections. Fluconazole
crosses the blood-brain barrier, making it particularly effective at
treating infections affecting the central nervous system. Compared to
other antifungal products, this medication is typically well tolerated.
Fluconazole Active Ingredient
(per tablet): fluconazole 100 mg
Keep Fluconazole out of reach of children and animals.
Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Fluconazole is only intended for use in dogs, cats,
and horses. Do not use in other animals. Do not use in any animal for
which it was not prescribed. Not for human use.
Follow the dosage and other usage instructions of
your veterinarian's prescription.
CAUTION: Complete the prescribed regimen.
Symptoms may disappear before an infection is fully treated.
Do not give higher doses or administer for a longer
duration than prescribed.
Not for use in animals with a hypersensitivity to
fluconazole, ketaconazole, or similar antifungal agents. Seek emergency
veterinary treatment for an allergic reaction.
Not for use in animals with liver impairment. Use
with caution in animals with kidney impairment.
Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals unless
your veterinarian advises that the benefits outweigh the risks.
Do not administer Fluconazole within 2 hours of giving
This medication causes side effects less often than
other antifungal treatments. Side effects may include diarrhea, emesis,
rash, anemia, dark urine, or jaundice. These reactions may also signal
an overdose. Contact your veterinarian right away if you observe any
Fluconazole can interact with many drugs and supplements,
including but not limited to buspirone, cisapride, cyclophosphamide,
cyclosporine, some diuretics, some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
(NSAIDs), theophylline/aminophylline, tricyclic antidepressants, sulfonylurea
antidiabetics, and warfarin. Do not administer any other drug or supplement
concomitantly with this product unless your veterinarian has approved
