    Description

Support your pet's kidneys with Epakitin

Epakitin 180 gm is a nutritional supplement for dogs and cats that uses Chitosan to help support kidney health and limit the amount of phosphate absorbed by your pet's intestines. Chitosan is a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is derived from shrimp and crab shells. It binds phosphate naturally and may help lower elevated levels of phosphorus in the blood. By doing this, Epakitin may help slow the progression of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

This supplement is available as a highly palatable powder that is added to your pet's food. Epakitin can be used in combination with a low phosphorus diet designed for pets with CKD, or it can be added to regular pet food. The manufacturer also states that Epakitin is compatible with any renal care diet or treatment, but always consult with your veterinarian before starting a new supplement regimen with your cat or dog.

    Directions

    Pet Weight Dosage
    Dogs/Cats: All weights

1 gm of Epakitin per 5 kg (11 lb) body weight given orally in the morning and the evening mixed with food.
One level spoonful (provided) contains 1 gram of Epakitin.

If your pet with kidney disease and elevated phosphate levels also suffers from azotemia, talk to your vet about whether or not Azodyl might also be an appropriate treatment.

Have been using this product for several months and just found it on your website. I can get the same thing from you as from my vet, except the quantity is larger and is much more cost effective. Service is great!

One of my cats went into kidney failure after eating food poisoned by the Chinese ingredient that killed so many cats. He lived for several years after the poisoning, due in part to giving him Epikitin twice daily. I also have a 19 year old cat who has been in kidney failure for at least five years. I believe it is the Epikitin that has kept her kidneys functioning all these years, especially since she does not eat KD food.
