Drontal Plus for Dogs & Cats

Praziquantel & Pyrantel Pamoate Deworming Medications

Drontal Plus a broad-spectrum prescription dewormer for use in dogs. It is indicated for use against tapeworms, hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms. Drontal Plus is FDA-approved for eliminating these intestinal parasites from dogs and puppies at least 3 weeks old and weighing at least 2 lbs.

Drontal is only for cats and kittens at least 1 month old and weighing at least 1.5 lbs. Not for human use. Not intended for use in other animals.

Keep out of reach of children. Do not allow children to handle Drontal Plus. Read directions and precautionary statements before use.

Directions for Drontal Plus for small dogs (2-25 lbs.):

1. Administer 1/2 tablet to dogs weighing 2-4 lbs.
2. Administer 1 tablet to dogs weighing 5-7 lbs.
3. Administer 1 1/2 tablets to dogs weighing 8-12 lbs.
4. Administer 2 tablets to dogs weighing 13-18 lbs.
5. Administer 2 1/2 tablets to dogs weighing 19-25 lbs.

Directions for Drontal Plus for medium dogs (26-60 lbs.):

1. Administer 1 tablet to dogs weighing 26-30 lbs.
2. Administer 1 1/2 tablets to dogs weighing 31-44 lbs.
3. Administer 2 tablets to dogs weighing 45-60 lbs.

Directions for Drontal Plus for large dogs (45-120 lbs.):

1. Administer 1 tablet to dogs weighing 45-60 lbs.
2. Administer 1 1/2 tablets to dogs weighing 61-90 lbs.
3. Administer 2 tablets to dogs weighing 91-120 lbs.

Consult your veterinarian for dosing instructions for dogs weighing more than 120 lbs.

Directions for Drontal Cats

1. Remove only one dose of Drontal from the bottle. Close bottle tightly and return to its safe storage location.
2. Give 1/4 tablet to cats weighing 1.5-1.9 lbs.
3. Give 1/2 tablet to cats weighing 2-3 lbs.
4. Give 1 tablet to cats weighing 4-8 lbs.
5. Give 1 1/2 tablets to cats weighing 9-12 lbs.
6. Give 2 tablets to cats weighing 13-16 lbs.
7. Feed the dose to your cat or crush it and add it to a small bit of food.
8. Observe to be sure that your cat consumes the full dose.

Frequency of Use:

Give Drontal Plus as a single dose.

Storage:

Store in original container and out of reach of children and animals.

Store Drontal Plus at controlled room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F. Protect from moisture and heat.

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Drontal Plus is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic for eliminating intestinal parasites. Its active ingredients, praziquantel, pyrantel pamoate, and febantel, are effective against tapeworms, hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms. Praziquantel affects the skin of tapeworms so that they are no longer capable of resisting digestion, which in turn leads to their dissolution. Pyrantel pamoate is effective against hookworms and roundworms. It triggers paralysis of the parasites, making them lose their grip on the intestinal wall and allowing for excretion from the body. Febantel is believed to work against whipworms by inhibiting their energy metabolism.

Drontal Plus (Praziquantel with pyrantel pamoate and febantel)

Active ingredients:

Drontal Plus for small dogs (2-25 lbs.) contains 22.7 mg praziquantel, 22.7 mg pyrantel pamoate, and 113.4 mg febantel.

Drontal Plus for medium dogs (26-60 lbs.) contains 68 mg praziquantel, 68 mg pyrantel pamoate, and 340.2 mg febantel.

Drontal Plus for large dogs (45-120 lbs.) contains 136 mg praziquantel, 136 mg pyrantel pamoate, and 680.4 mg febantel.

Bottles for small and medium dogs have 50 scored chewable tablets and bottles for large dogs have 30 scored chewable tablets.

Drontal Plus is only intended for use in dogs and puppies that are at least 3 weeks old and that weigh at least 2 lbs. Not for use in humans, cats, or other animals.

Available only by prescription. Use only as prescribed by your veterinarian. Do not give Drontal Plus to any dog or puppy to which it was not prescribed.

CAUTION: Side effects are uncommon with Drontal Plus, but may include vomiting, diarrhea, diminished appetite, or others. Mention any side effects to your veterinarian. These are also signs of an overdose. If you know of or suspect an overdose, seek emergency veterinary care for your dog.

Humans are susceptible to tapeworm infection. Talk to your veterinarian about proper preventative hygiene measures.

Drontal Plus is not for humans. Contact your doctor or poison control in the event of ingestion with the product label on hand.

Do not give your dog Drontal Plus in conjunction with another deworming medication unless instructed to do so by your veterinarian.

Drontal Plus is not for use in pregnant dogs.
