Stool Softener

Docusate Sodium softens hard, dry stools to enable comfortable passing. This eases symptoms of constipation and prevents obstipation from occurring, which is a potentially serious condition characterized by an inability to pass stool. Docusate Sodium is gentle and is not generally associated with adverse effects.

Use Docusate Sodium only as directed by your veterinarian. Double check dosing before administration.

Feed your pet a high-fiber diet and provide ready access to clean drinking water while treating with Docusate Sodium.

Directions:

1. Give 50 mg to 200 mg, 2 to 3 times per day, to dogs.
2. Give 50 mg, 1 to 2 times per day, to cats.
3. Divide doses evenly throughout the day.

Frequency of Use:

Give for as long as instructed by your veterinarian. Symptoms generally improve 24 to 48 hours after giving the product, but a longer duration of therapy may be necessary. Long-term use may result in laxative dependence.

Storage:

Store Docusate Sodium in a tightly closed container, at room temperature, and out of reach of children and pets. Temperatures above 86 degrees F. can melt Docusate Sodium capsules.

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Docusate Sodium is an emollient laxative that works by promoting water absorption to soften your cat or dog's stools and assist with elimination. Docusate Sodium can be taken to ease chronic or acute constipation in small animals and is most effective when used in conjunction with other therapies, such as increased water intake.

Warnings:

Keep this product out of reach of children and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.

Docusate Sodium is intended for use in cats and dogs only. Do not give to other animals or to humans.

CAUTION: Use cautiously in animals with an existing electrolyte imbalance.

Side effects are rare and may include cramping and diarrhea.

Use only as long as necessary. Long-term use may result in laxative dependence.

Do not use Docusate Sodium in animals with a known allergy to it or to similar products.
