Use this medication only as directed by your veterinarian.
Do not allow children to administer this medication.
Do not exceed recommended dosage.
Directions:
- Give 0.15 to 1 mg per pound of body weight twice
daily to dogs to treat allergies.
- Give 2 mg to cats twice daily to treat allergies.
- Give 1 to 4 mg to cats once or twice daily to stimulate
the appetite.
Frequency of Use:
Duration of treatment depends on the condition being
treated and the animal's individual response. Complete all medication
prescribed by your veterinarian. Failure to give the entire course of
medication may result in a relapse.
Storage:
Store Cyproheptadine at room temperature, in the
original container, tightly sealed. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine that binds to
specific histamine receptors in the body to reduce inflammation and
stop allergic reactions. Additionally, Cyproheptadine antagonizes serotonin
in the brain. This effect on serotonin, a neurotransmitter, increases
appetite to improve feeding and weight gain. The medication also stimulates
cortisone production and may be of benefit to pets with Cushing's disease.

Warnings:
Keep this product out of reach of children and animals.
Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Cyproheptadine is intended for use in dogs and cats
only. It may sometimes be used in horses. Not for humans.
CAUTION: Cyproheptadine may cause drowsiness
in some animals. In some cases, a paradoxical reaction may occur that
causes cats to become excited while undergoing treatment with Cyproheptadine.
Symptoms of overdose may include dry mouth, urine
retention, increased heart rate, increased eye pressure, and fever.
When used along with other sedative medications,
dangerous sedation may occur.
Do not use in animals with a history of urinary blockage,
glaucoma, and/or heart failure.
Consult your veterinarian before giving this medication
to animals with prostate disease, heart disease, stomach obstruction,
or liver or kidney disease.
Cyproheptadine may cause drowsiness; use cautiously
in police dogs, guide dogs, and rescue dogs.
Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals.
Do not use this medication in animals with a known
allergy to it or to similar medications.
