Improved CarraVet® Acemannan Wound Gel contains more Acemannan Hydrogel™ and the gel has been increased in viscosity to better remain in the wound, along with a new look in packaging. CarraVet® Acemannan Wound Gel containing Acemannan Hydrogel™ assists in wound management by providing a moist wound environment.

It is this moist wound environment which is beneficial for production of autologous growth factors (cytokines) and maintenance of naturally occurring growth factors, essential for cell development, assists with autolytic debridement, encourages epithelialization and enables macrophage activation.

Macrophages help remove necrotic debris and stimulate the release of growth factors (cytokines) , IL-1, IL-6, TNFa and Nitric Oxide. Released cytokines stimulate fibroblast proliferation starting the proliferative phase of healing. Fibroblasts make collagen and new blood vessels (neoangiogensis) resulting in granulation tissue which fills in the defect. Fibroblasts promote epithelization and the maturation phase of healing. Fibroblasts become myofibroblasts to help pull wound edges together.
