Atropine Sulfate Ophthalmic Ointment 3.5 gm

Product Description:

Atropine is used in the eye as a mydriatic to dilate the pupil and as a cycloplegic to cause accommodation paralysis in the control of pain secondary to corneal or uveal disease.

Atropine belongs to the group of medicines called anti-muscarinics. Atropine blocks the receptors in the muscles of the eye (muscarinic receptors). These receptors are involved in controlling the pupil size and the shape of the lens. By blocking these receptors, atropine produces dilatation of the pupil and prevents the eye from accommodating for near vision. Atropine is given as eye drops to dilate the pupil and relax the lens so that eye examinations can be carried out thorough.

Dosage and Administration:

  • The duration of administration depends on the condition being treated, response to the medication and the development of any adverse effects.
