Two 200 micron filter socks remove large particulate matter. You can add other Aqueon Refugiums, BioMedia, or protein skimmers to transform the ProFlex to fit your aquarium's needs. Well made and easy to use. I'm not handy so this is nice to get and have a refugium in the middle part. But after about 3 hours of running the hose split where it connects to the PVC pipe. I made a fast run to the hardware store and got something to fix it. Now it seems to be running great
