Use this medication only as directed by your veterinarian.
Do not use this medication in the ear if the tympanic
membrane is ruptured.
Directions:
- Put on gloves before handling or administering Animax.
- Use the accompanying cap to puncture the seal on
the tube.
- Remove the white portion of the applicator cap to
dispense medication.
- For otic conditions, clean the ear canal(s), remove
any foreign bodies, and then instill 3 to 5 drops of ointment in the
affected ear(s).
- Treat cysts and infected anal glands by draining
the cyst or gland and then filling the area with ointment.
- Use to treat skin infections by cleaning the affected
area, removing any exudate, and then applying a thin film of ointment
to the entire symptomatic area.
Frequency of Use:
Frequency of administration depends on the type and
severity of the condition present. Mild inflammatory conditions generally
require daily to weekly treatment. Severe problems usually require two
or three applications per day.
Storage:
Store Animax Ointment at room temperature. Do not
store this product in temperatures exceeding 104 degrees F.
It is a violation of Federal
Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Animax combines the benefits of four powerful medications:
nystatin, thiostrepton, neomycin sulfate, and triamcinolone acetonide.
The resulting ointment is effective against cutaneous disorders, especially
those caused or complicated by fungal or bacterial infection.
Warnings:
Keep this product out of reach of children and animals.
Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Animax Ointment is intended for use on dogs and cats.
Do not give to other animals or to humans.
CAUTION: Animax is not for use in pregnant
animals. Corticosteroids may results in retained placenta, fetal death,
birth defects, and other complications when given during the last trimester
of pregnancy.
If swallowed, seek emergency medical attention.
This medication is not appropriate for treating deep
abscesses or deep infections. It is also not for puncture wounds or
severe burns.
Although Animax rarely causes side effects, corticosteroid
use is associated with polyuria, polydipsia, and weight gain.
Some animals are sensitive to neomycin. If signs
of sensitivity occur, such as swelling or redness, discontinue use and
consult your veterinarian.
Animax may cause temporary hearing loss, Cushing's
syndrome, vomiting, diarrhea, polyuria, polydipsia, elevations of SAP
and SGPT enzymes, or other problems.
Do not use this medication in animals with a known
allergy to it or to similar medications.
