As in humans, your pet's liver is
one of the largest organs in its
body and it performs many life
essential functions. It also
produces a range of hormones,
enzymes, proteins, and other
substances important for your pet's
health and life. The liver also
detoxifies and removes waste from
the bloodstream by changing them
into substances that can be
eliminated. This waste filtering is
important because the toxins can
damage the membranes of cells in the
liver and other organs. The most
important “detoxifier” is
glutathione, a strong antioxidant
that protects liver cells (hepatocytes)
from deterioration.
Denosyl SD4
protects liver cells from dying and
is helpful in cell repair and
healing.
Denosyl SD4 elevates liver
glutathione, the liver's main
detoxifier, as well as supports
overall liver health.
Denosyl SD4 (S-adenosylmethionine)
is a nutritional supplement for use
to aid in managing a variety of
liver problems in dogs and cats.
Denosyl SD4 may be used as an
adjunct therapy for dogs and cats
with elevated liver enzymes and
suffering from: hepatic lipidosis,
breed-specific chronic hepatitis,
feline liver disease, Cushing's
Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease,
Pancreatitis, etc. Denosyl SD4
is a pure, patented, uniform,
bioavailable, and stable salt of S-Adenosylmethionine.
Denosyl SD4 has been shown to
increase hepatic glutathione levels
in cats and dogs.
Glutathione, a potent antioxidant,
is the liver's main detoxifier that
protects hepatic cells from toxins
and death. A recent analysis of 31
dogs and cats with various severe
liver problems showed that 45% of
these animals had low hepatic
glutathione levels. Denosyl SD4 is
recommended to improve hepatic
glutathione levels in compromised
patients to help maintain and
protect liver function. Denosyl SD4
may also be used in other conditions
of tissue oxidant injury and RBC
fragility caused by certain toxins
or drugs which are related to
reduced glutathione concentrations.
Administration as a Dietary
Supplement: The chart below is
provided as a guide for
administration. Daily dosage may
also be calculated, based on 18
mg/kg of body weight and rounded to
the closest tablet size or
combination of sizes.
For optimal absorption, tablets
should be given on an empty stomach,
at least one hour before feeding, as
the presence of food decreases the
absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine.
When giving more than one tablet,
the total daily dose may be provided
as a morning and evening dose. For
example, a daily dose of three
tablets could be divided into two
tablets in the morning and one
tablet in the evening. Because the
tablet must be kept intact to
prevent destruction by stomach acid,
administration utilizes a dosage
range, based on the nearest
whole-tablet dose.
